Session Details

Sessions are aimed at juniors ages from school year 2 upwards and will take place at Tiffin Girls School, Richmond Road, Kingston. From September 2011, the sessions will be split between under U8s and U10s (school years 2, 3, 4 and 5) between 9.15am and 10.30am and under 11s and under 12s (school years 6 and 7) between 10.15am and 11.30am and under 14s and under 16s (school years 8 and above) between 11.15am and 12.30pm.

The cost for the coming season will remain as it was for last season at £110 for the first child, £90 for the second and £80 for the third. Payment is required in advance and once received ensures your child is then covered under our public liability insurance. There will be level 1 and level 2 coaches from the club (all of whom are CRB checked) present at every session plus other helpers from the club’s teams.

Owing to the nature of the sport, a parent or a responsible adult is required to stay pitch side during each session.

Refreshments will be served during this time.

The Junior section of OKHC is run voluntarily by club members and parents. We are always on the lookout for further volunteers to help us with the following activities: Coaching, First Aid, Team Organisers, Refreshments, PR, Marketing and Publicity, General administration, Match reporting. Training can/will be given where necessary.

Equipment Required

Hockey sticks will be provided to begin with, but all juniors attending training sessions must wear gum shields and shin pads, preferably shin pads that cover the ankle. Necessary kit can be obtained from The Pro Shop in Thames Ditton or Brentford, John Lewis or other good sports shops. Juniors will also need to wear the appropriate clothing, ie, shorts/tracksuit bottoms (preferably in black), t-shirt (preferably in maroon) or sweatshirt, waterproof jacket depending on the weather as well as astro/dimple bottomed trainers. All children with long hair must have it tied back securely for training sessions and matches.

A drink is also recommended.

All OKHC playing kit is available at The Pro Shop in Thames Ditton or Brentford or online at The Pro Shop. Click on hockey, clothing and then club clothing to get to the OKHC page.
